Lake Mountain set to hold it's first ever mountain bike event!

On Saturday 20 February Lake Mountain Alpine Resort will hold it's first ever mountain bike event called the 'Granite Grind'.

Based on a race loop of approximately 15kms entrants have the option to race either one or two laps. There will also be timed laps around Lenny's Loop to cater for all ages and levels of ability. The event will also mark the official opening of stage one of the mountain bike trail network, to be opened by Member for Seymour MP Ben Hardman.

Other events coming up at Lake Mountain include the Ventou Marysville Lake Mountain Challenge, also being held on Saturday 20 February. This event attracted over 1500 cyclists last year and is expected to attract big numbers again in 2010.

The Lake Mountain Sprint is being held on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March.
This tarmac car rally is expected to attract over 50 cars this year, with four spectator points for visitors to view these spectacular machines in action!

Now the Tf''s are no good at these exciting biking challenges, too much good food and wine but we have been noticing a lot of training going on. Men, women, teenagers and young children have been seen in Marysville and up at Lake Mountain enjoying the weather, views and getting some exercise. So if you love biking and you want to help the region post fires, get on your bike and enter now!!
Or if fast cars is more your speed get in early for a great spectator point, take a chair and your camera!
