Marysville Sparkles for Melbourne Cup

The Tf's are excited, there is to be a sparkling fest in the Upper Goulburn region.
Bubbles, Marysville and Melbourne Cup, what a fit!

The Tf's recently caught up with the team: Chris, Jacqui, Michael, Chris and Barbara, Graham, Di and Trudi and they very excitably had this to say:

"Mystic Mountains Tourism in partnership with Buxton Ridge Winery and Rochford Wines are launching the inaugural Marysville Sparkling Wine Festival on Tuesday 2nd November 2010.

To be held in Marysville Central Park the Festival will be a day of entertainment, food and wine, as well as a big screen broadcast of the Melbourne Cup Race.

With assistance from 2nd year Swinburne students, studying Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Events, the Festival will be the culmination of a number of Sparkling Wine events.
Starting on Tuesday 26th October a Sparkling Wine Competition is being held at the Marysville Golf and Bowls Club.

Chief Judge will be John Ellis, the owner of Hanging Rock winery, aided by Wendy Cameron from Brown Brothers. A third judge is yet to be confirmed. These eminent industry professionals will judge wines from around the country in what is Australia’s only dedicated sparkling wine competition.

A Business Breakfast, funded by Murrindindi Shire Council, is being held on Wednesday 27th October at Holmesglen Rural Learning Centre in Eildon.
Guest Speaker will be John Ellis, with further details to be published closer to the date.

Cup Eve, Monday November 1st, will be celebrated at the Black Spur Inn with a black tie gala dinner. A five course dinner with entertainment, will also include the announcement of the winning wines from the wine competition.

Michael Gelbert owner of Buxton Ridge Winery says “The Festival was an idea born out of the success of Melbourne Cup day in Marysville last year. We are really excited about the interest that is being shown and look forward to giving more information as judges, entertainers and activities are confirmed.”
He went on to say “One thing is for sure, we intend that this Competition and Festival become an annual ‘must do’ on people’s calendar”.

So pencil the dates in your diary now and help make this Festival a huge success.
