Granite Grind this weekend!!

The Tf's chatted to Trudi from Lake Mountain about the event that is happening tommorrow.

Trudi explained that Lake Mountain is so close to Melbourne and that it only takes under a 2 hour’s drive from most parts of Melbourne you can be in an alpine adventure playground.

Lake Mountain Alpine Resort has always been known for its cross country skiing and snow appeal, however the devastating Black Saturday bushfires has provided the resort with an opportunity to expand on their summer offering, including the construction of over 10km of mountain bike trails.

Tommorrow Saturday February 26th 2011 Lake Mountain will be holding their second annual Granite Grind. This event attracted almost 200 mountain bike riders in its inaugural year.

‘The Grind’ is based around a 10km single track loop offering riders a challenging course with various bumps and berms to manoeuvre along the way.

Riders can enter one, two or three lap course options with various categories to suit all ages and levels of ability.
For riders that entered last year there is a couple of new kilometres of track to challenge yourself on and the longer three lap option for those wanting to exhaust themselves even more.
The Granite Grind is a great day out for all the family, with spectator viewing points, great music and Heights Bar and Bistro open to sit down, relax, enjoy a meal and soak up the atmosphere.
There is over 30km of cross country ski trails to explore on foot, including a 4km interpretative walk providing insight into the recovery and regeneration of the alpine landscape.

Sponsors for the event include the Upwey Community Bendigo Bank Branch, Croydon Cycleworks, Rochford Wines and Murrindindi Cycle Club.

On the same day as the Granite Grind CycleSport Victoria will run the third Marysville Lake Mountain Challenge, a recreational ride with various course options, including the gruelling climb between Marysville and Lake Mountain.

So if you havent entered why not go up and watch! The Tf's will be in the bistro after a wonderful walk around Lake Mountain...come join us...
