Lake Mountain Alpine Resort has been announced as an Adventure Tourism Finalist at the RACV 2012 Victorian Tourism Awards.

Paul Squires, CEO of Lake Mountain was delighted with the first year result saying “it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the resort management board and staff and the support of the local community, with the announcement highlighting the resort as an iconic attraction within regional Victoria”.

Lake Mountain is Melbourne’s closest alpine resort, providing many visitors with their first time snow experience. The resort has over 30km of cross country ski trails, toboggan slopes and snow play areas. During the warmer months the resort transforms into a nature based playground for bushwalking and biking. Lake Mountain has been a catalyst in the recovery of the Marysville region since February 2009, attracting over 150,000 visitors each year.

In its 28th year, the awards are instrumental in encouraging creativity, professionalism and innovation within the tourism industry.

“Each year, the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards recognise and reward the best tourist experiences across our state and honour our highly skilled workforce and promote award-winning products,” Minister for Tourism and Major Events Louise Asher said.

“The awards celebrate the achievements of those who strive for tourism excellence and quality and to make Victoria a world-class tourism destination.”

More than 150 tourism operators competed in 27 business categories, with another three individual and group awards presented at a gala ceremony on 19 November.
